Make-up Trend: Blue Smoky Eyes

"Using rich color is a ravishing new take on the smoky eye," says celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee. Line eyes with shimmery navy eye pencil, then fill in your lids and smudge it, advises Lee, who suggests dabbing rich dark blue shadow over it to set the look.

"It is extremely important to keep the color below the crease line on your lids," Kate warns. Dab color in the socket and clean the upper lid with a Q-tip.

Make-up Trend: Red Lips

In the array of all the Valentine's Day hoop-la, Jiya Khan has been playing up her puckers with a romantic red lipcolor. But what goes with it is critical to pulling off the look. To give Jiya Khan a face that exuded romance, not a vampy look, makeup artist Abhijit Chanda dusted a soft peach blush (Chanel Powder Blush in Orchid Rose) over flawless, matte skin.

He applied Chanel Ultra Wear Lip Color in Ruby Lite, which tends to stay put all night. For added staying power, prime lips with Chanel Hydra-Treatment Lip Care SPF 15 then fill them in with Chanel Lip Definer in Rouge.

Vogue India Speaks to Pat McGrath

Tomato-flushed cheeks, luminous fresh skin and a hint of dusky pink capture that enchanted look to perfection. Make-up artist Pat McGrath helps us get the first flush!
  • After applying liquid foundation to the face, press a small amount of moisturizer onto the cheeks with your palms to create a natural flushed color.

  • Apply a precise dab of shimmery white cream color to the inner eye corners to brighten the eyes.

  • Enhance the luminous highlights on the face by blending a pearl shimmer cream across the cheekbones, brow bones and the bridge of the nose, using your index finger. NARS the Multiple in Copacabana, gives a beautiful luminous sheen and the impression of perfect skin.

  • Use a lip brush to apply shimmer cream to the inner corners of the eyes and Cupid's bow as well. This technique makes skin look fresh and moist with a flawless finish.
Vogue Tip: Add pink or pale red blush to cheeks to get the 'wonderland' look. For more drama, try apple cheeks with a matte blush in reddish pink.

Malaika Arora Khan's Make-up Favorites

My favorite brands in makeup are M.A.C Cosmetics and Bobbi Brown. However, when I am not shooting, I hate using make up. I just use a moisturizer, I use La Mer Moisturizing Cream . I believe in a fresh, clean, natural, radiant look and this moisturizer does the trick it keeps my skin looking firm and flawless.

I really don’t have a problematic skin so my make-up is minimal. I love using Dior Diorshow Mascara as I have really long eye lashes and this lengthens and thickens them and makes me look like I have false eyelashes on. And, a nice blush to highlight my cheeks, my favorite blushes from Bobbi Brown are Apricot, Peony, Rose, and Spice.

My favorite eye shadow colors are M.A.C Bronze, M.A.C Pink Venus, M.A.C Honey Lust, M.A.C Amber Lights and M.A.C Goldmine.

My make up tip: Your inner state reflects on your skin. So try to live a stress-free life.

Billu Barber Showcases 2009's Make-up and Skin Trends

Eye make-up will be about defining the soft smokey eyes in pastel colors that compliment the skin tone. Eyebrows for spring are softer and more natural. The skin will look like it has barely been touched, thus emphasizing the smokey eyes. For blush, soft peaches, roses and pastel plums will be in vogue. Texture will be sheer and lightweight, to ensure that the glow is coming from within. In 2009, the look takes on a modern accent.

The whole make-up is glowy, natural fresh, with smokey eyes, but not as dark as the previous season. In spring, soft smokey eyes with matte foundation will dominate. The lip colors will be pale. For autumn, the eyes will still remain smokey but in deeper tones, cheeks will be sculpted with bronze effect.

Madhuri's Slumdog Millionaire Premiere Beauty Breakdown

At the Slumdog Millionaire Premiere at Mumbai, Madhuri Dixit had natural kohl rimmed eyes and berry stained lips, created by celebrity makeup artist Bharat Godambe. It was refreshing to see her with something other than red or pink on the lips. The marroonish brown color complimented her features and skin tone very well.

Smudge Chanel Le Crayon Khol in Black on upper lash line and Ambre beneath lower lashes. Apply Lancome Color Design Eye Shadow in Chic to lids, followed by Lancome Oscillation Mascara in Black. Dust cheeks with Chanel Rose Bronze Powder Blush on the apples of the cheeks. Finish with Chanel Ultra Wear Lipcolor in Alexandrite.

Aishwarya Rai's L'Oreal Advertisement, 2009

Looks like L'Oreal shall be coming out with some lip gloss that will last long, I'm excited to know what it is. What are your thoughts? Will it be something like Beyonce's Infallible Lipcolor?

Make-up Trend: Alert and Awake Eyes

Stars from Bollywood are on cloud 9 after hearing about all the Oscar nominations Slumdog Millionaire got. Jiah Khan looked like a vision in red and radiant as ever at the Mumbai Premiere of Slumdog Millionaire.

Ice ice, baby. Cold pressure reduces under eye puffiness better than any cream or gel, but it's hard to tolerate direct frigid contact. Wrap a paper towel around a cup of frozen peas and hold them under your eyes for five minutes on each side. Then smooth on concealer, line lower lash lines with a pale pink pencil and apply beige shimmer powder to the inner corners.

Make-up Trend: Flawless, Well-blended Foundation

Getting foundation just right can require some trial and error, but keep these tips in mind: “Don’t match foundation to the color of your neck because it’s the palest part of your body—instead match it to the color of your decolletage,” says Chanel India make-up artist Xavier Bertrand. “And avoid high-coverage formulas with titanium, which appear too pale in the light.”

Xavier also adds, “If foundation isn’t for you, try an alternative like gel bronzer or bronzing powder,” which will give fairer complexions a subtle tan like Kareena Kapoor's, the star looks sunkissed on the latest cover of HT Brunch.

Make-up Trend: Peaches & Cream Skin and Dark Hair

Who's the fairest of them all? If you have a pale complexion and feel washed out, you can brighten your peaches-and-cream face with a soft (not jet) black or rich mahogany shade like Karisma Kapur's. She's definitely taken a cue from sister Kareena's locks (she is the brand ambassador for the line) who thanks to Garnier Nutrisse's dyes stay healthy and shiny. "Dark hair is better at reflecting light, so a deep shade will instantly look shinier and your entire face will glow", says Hakim Aalim, hair stylist to the celebrities.

If ultra-dark hair isn't for you, try rocking a chestnut brown hue, which will give your skin a subtle rosy flush.
